“We are honored and excited to bring two outstanding instructors to our studio” stated Cornelia Sampson, owner of Rochester School of Dance, “not just for our own students, but for students in our area that are interested in studying with such renowned, gifted instructors.” Giving students the chance to take classes with such well-known artists is important for owner Sampson. “Some students that live in Michigan may never get this opportunity and I am pleased to offer them this priviledge.”
Katrina Killian is teaching classes this week at the RSD. Killian has performed principal roles in Balanchine's Bouree Fantastique, Divetimento from Le Baiser de la Fee, Tarantella, Western Symphony, The Four Seasons, The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty and many other classical and contemporary works in the NYCB's repertoire. She joined the School of American Ballet, official school of the New York City Ballet, in 1998 upon retirement from the company. Killian also serves as Ballet Mistress for the NYCB Education Department staging productions featuring SAB's advanced students for NYCB's Ballet Bridges program which reaches 2000 public school children each year.

Peter O’Brien will be teaching classes Aug. 20-24, at the RSD. O’Brien, former dancer with the Royal Ballet, has danced every principal role in the renowned company’s repertoire. He has partnered famed ballerinas including Galina Panow, Margot Fonteyn, Galina Samsova, Margret Barbieri, Merle Park, Marion Tage and Yoko Morashito among many others. O’Brien’s extensive career has taken him all over the world. He has performed with the New London Ballet, Northern Ballet Theatre, Stadttheater Bern, Australian Ballet Company, Ballet Theatre Francaise de Nancy, Zurich Opera House, Alta Balletto, La Scala Milano, and Nureyev and Friends. During his dance career, he became interested in teaching and often coached young dancers in the companies he danced with. Since retiring from the stage, he has continued his coaching interests and is currently teaching in New York at Steps on Broadway and the Alvin Ailey School. He is a sought after master teacher and coach and his diversified dance repertory and partnering experience lends itself to a wonderful opportunity for any student, female or male.
Both instructors provide a learning experience geared towards children of all ages.
