Scare Away Hunger Raised $18,000 for Neighborhood House

The Rochester Area Neighborhood House submitted the following news release:

recently held its first-ever Scare Away Hunger 5k Run/Walk and autumn family event to raise money for their food assistance programs and food pantry. The event raised more than $18,000 for Neighborhood House.

About 270 individual runners and walkers participated in the event while many families took part in the Fogler’s Orchards pumpkin rolling races and autumn-themed obstacle course, dance presentations by the RARA competitive dance team, face-painting, crafts and scavenger hunt.

Executive Director Linda Riggs said she was thrilled with the turnout and grateful to the runners and other members of the community for coming out to support their neighbors in need. “I would like to especially thank our volunteer coordinator of the event, Patti Toma. Without her leadership and coordination efforts this event never would have been the great success that it was,” said Riggs.

In addition, Riggs noted that the support of the two platinum event sponsors, Renaissance Capital Alliance and Citizens Bank, was greatly appreciated. “Their support of Neighborhood House and our mission demonstrates their confidence in our ability to help our neighbors, and we take that charge very seriously. We are extremely grateful for their generosity and sincerely honored by their support.”
