You can drop off leftover Halloween candy at the Rochester Hills substation of the between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 1 and Nov. 2.
The collection is part of a "Treats for Troops" effort to send thanks, encouragement, and sweets to our troops overseas. Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard also encourages parents and children wishing to participate to include notes (thank you, holiday, etc.) to the troops with the donation. Michigan Military Moms and Operation Care Package Michigan will assist with the shipping portion of the project.
"Treats for Troops is a great way parents can participate in a community service project with their kids while
showing our troops we support them back home," said Bouchard.
Candy must be individually wrapped; no chocolate, please.
