Boil Water Advisory In Rochester Hills

Residents will be notified when the water is deemed safe to drink.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — A boil water advisory has been issued for the city of Rochester Hills, and Mayor Brian Barnett's office has issued a news release warning residents not to drink water unless it's boiled first. This advisory remains in effect until the water has been deemed safe.

According to the news release, a loss of water pressure in the water distribution system in the Great Lakes Water Authority water supply could have caused bacterial contamination in the water system. The GLWA is working on the issue, and staff will be taking measures including flushing and collecting bacteriological samples from around the system. The affected area in Rochester Hills is south of Walton Blvd from Adams Road to Dequindre Road.

The news release reminds residents to "Let water boil for one minute, then let cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and preparing food."
