Clean Water Summit Held At Rochester Hills Library

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — The Rochester Hills Public Library will welcome Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner Jim Nash for a Clean Water Summit on Thursday, Oct. 24.

Nash will discuss Oakland County’s aging water infrastructure, new projects being done county-wide, and tips to protect your own water systems.

Rochester Hills has had its fair share of water advisories this year. There have been several on-and-off boil water advisories issued in northwest Rochester Hills due to a loss of water pressure, as a precautionary measure. Earlier this spring both Rochester Adams High School and Van Hoosen Middle School closed down until it could be confirmed that no harmful mercury levels were detected in the water.

“It’s incredibly important for our community members to be well educated about water issues in Oakland County, and I’m looking forward to address some concerns and inform patrons about new and important projects to our water systems,” said Nash.

“The past few years have raised a lot of concerns for Michigan water systems,” said Community Relations Specialist Amanda Harrison Keighley. “We believe it’s important to provide a forum to address those concerns and discuss the future of Oakland County’s water systems and their new projects.”

The program is Oct. 24 from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room and is open to everyone with an RHPL library card. This program is geared toward adults but all ages are welcome. Please register in advance at rhpl.org.
