Donated iPads Give Rochester Hills Firefighters New Tools for Job

The Rochester Hills Fire Department now has some high-tech tools at its disposal to assist with emergency calls, thanks to the donation of five iPads from Star-Batt Inc. agent Cheryl Warstler and owner Steve Stolaruk.

Fire inspectors will use the iPads to enter written building inspections into a software system on the tablet computer. The new technology will give firefighters quick, easy access to data such as locations of fire hydrants, maps, building plans and potential hazards.

Firefighters also can use weather applications, access news and dispatch information and take photos of the scene with the device's built-in camera.

“We are extremely grateful for the generosity of the Stolaruks, it is evident that they are committed to making this community a better place, and to the safety of our firefighters and first responders,” Mayor Bryan Barnett said.
