Former Red Wings Player Todd Bertuzzi Arrested For DUI: TMZ

TMZ reported that the former Red Wings star was pulled over just after midnight Saturday in Auburn Hills.

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — A former Red Wings player was arrested over the weekend for drunken driving, according to reports.

Todd Bertuzzi, 46, a former right wing with the Detroit Red Wings and five other National Hockey League teams, was pulled over just after midnight on Saturday in Auburn Hills after other drivers called 911 to report a vehicle they said was swerving all over the road, TMZ reported.

He was booked into the Oakland County Jail a little before 1 a.m. on Saturday and released the same day, jail records show.

Officers responded to the calls and saw the former NHL player run a red light, prompting them to pull him over, TMZ reported. During the traffic stop, Bertuzzi refused a breathalyzer test but took part in other field sobriety tests, showing "signs of impairment," TMZ reported.

Bertuzzi played nearly 1,200 games in his NHL career. He may be best known for an incident in 2004 in which Bertuzzi punched Steve Moore of the Colorado Avalanche after Moore checked one of Bertuzzi's teammates, giving the player a mild concussion.

Moore broke his neck as a result of the fight, and Bertuzzi, then a member of the Vancouver Canucks, faced a series of legal actions as a result of his actions.
