The Rochester Hills Museum has partnered with several organizations to offer this guided hike that draws in history, politics and nature.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — Join historians and outdoor enthusiasts hiking a historic canal in Michigan.
The Clinton and Kalamazoo Canal Society has partnered with the Rochester Hills Museum and several other communities to explore, preserve, and interpret the history of the Clinton-Kalamazoo Canal that attempted to cross Michigan in the 1830s. Only 16 miles were completed from Mt. Clemens to Rochester, organizers said.
Several guides will lead guests hiking a two-mile stretch of the Canal starting at Riverbends Park, 5700 22 Mile Road, just west of Shelby Road.
