Man Flees From Police in Rochester Hills, Abandons Car in Troy

He was pulled over for driving on a suspended license, police say.

A routine traffic stop Wednesday morning in Rochester Hills resulted in a police chase through part of the city, onto the highway and into Troy, where the pursued driver abandoned his car and fled the scene.

The incident began at 1:13 a.m. when Oakland County Sheriff's deputies stopped a black 2000 Toyota Avalon on Adams Road near Auburn Road in the city. Deputies stopped the car because the car's license plate indicated the driver may have been driving on a suspended license.

A 25-year-old Southfield man was driving the car; there was a 24-year-old Pontiac woman in the passenger seat.
