Court Rules On Oxford School Shooter's Bid For Resentencing
Crumbley's lawyers sought to withdraw his guilty plea with a new sentencing date, citing his deteriorating mental health and home life.

OXFORD, MI — Oxford school shooter Ethan Crumbley will not be resentenced.
The Michigan Court of Appeals on Tuesday denied Crumbely's request to withdraw his guilty plea and be resentenced.
Crumbley's lawyers sought to withdraw his guilty plea with a new sentencing date after presenting information they said contributed to his declining mental health state and deteriorating home life before the shooting. He also argued that he had ineffective lawyers.

The three-judge panel, however, denied the appeal for a "lack of merit in the grounds presented."
That ruling comes five months after an Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Kwame Rowe denied his appeal. Rowe rejected the notion that Crumbley had ineffective lawyers and alluded that any new information would not lead to a different outcome.

Crumbley, who was 15 at the time of the November 2021 shooting at Oxford High School, pleaded guilty in October 2022 to killing four classmates. He also pleaded guilty to injuring six other students and a teacher.
The four students killed in the shooting were 14-year-old Hana St. Juliana, 16-year-old Tate Myre, 17-year-old Madisyn Baldwin and 17-year-old Justin Shilling.
He was sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole.
Crumbley was initially placed in the Thumb Correctional Facility in Lapeer County, but has since been moved to the Oaks Correctional Facility in Manistee, which is roughly 60 miles southwest of Traverse City.
Ethan's parents, Jennifer and James Crumbley were each found guilty of four counts of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the shooting after prosecutors said they ignored disturbing warning signs from their son leading up to the deadly shooting. Both Jennifer and James are seeking new trials.
