Oakland Co. Man Dies In Crash Involving SUV, Signal Post, Tree: Police

Investigators believe he may have had a medical problem that caused the crash.​​

PONTIAC, MI — A 52-year-old Pontiac man was killed in a crash over the weekend, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

The crash happened at 6 p.m. Saturday in the area of Auburn Road near South Francis and South Sanford streets in Pontiac, according to officials.

Officials said the Pontiac man was driving a 2023 Dodge Ram truck east on Auburn Road where a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer was stopped at a red light at South Sanford Street.

The Ram smashed into the stopped Chevy and continued moving through the intersection, according to officials.

The truck then left the roadway, struck a crosswalk signal post and a tree before stopping in a field, according to officials.

The Pontiac man was taken to a nearby hospital where he died, according to officials.

Investigators believe he may have had a medical problem that caused the crash. They do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

Investigators also said he was not wearing a seatbelt.

A 69-year-old Pontiac woman, who was driving the Blazer, was not injured in the crash, according to officials.

Officials were still investigating the crash.
