Oakland Co. Man Steals $12K From Co-Worker; Getaway Driver Then Shoots, Robs Him: Police
A Pontiac man was robbed and shot by the person he called for a ride after stealing $12,000 from a co-worker last Friday, police said.
PONTIAC, MI — A Pontiac man was robbed and shot by the person he called for a ride after stealing $12,000 from a co-worker last Friday, according to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office.
Officials said 25-year-old Arthur Crayton stole $12,000 from a co-worker last Friday. Crayton then called 30-year-old Jamarieai Burns for a ride, according to police.
When Burns arrived, he took $4,000 from Crayton and then shot him in the hip, according to police.

Burns, who is on parole for armed robbery and not allowed to carry a gun, was charged with assault with intent to murder, armed robbery, and three felony weapons charges. He faces up to life in prison if convicted.
Crayton was charged with larceny in a building. He faces up to four years in prison, if convicted.

Both men are from Pontiac, though police did not say exactly where the incidents happened in Oakland County.
"The victim will be prosecuted for his own alleged crimes, but those crimes don’t justify what happened to him," Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said. "Jamarieai Burns is a repeat offender. We intend to prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law. Every victim is this case in entitled to justice."
