Oakland County Sheriff's Office K9 Gunner Receives New Bullet And Stab Proof Vest

Paws up for K9 Gunner, who will be a lot safer in his new vest as he hunts drug traffickers across Metro Detroit.

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI Hunting drug traffickers across Metro Detroit is all in a day's work for Gunner, a K9 with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. But Gunner's job just got a lot safer (paws up for that!), as he will receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. and manufacturer Armor Express, according to a news release.

“We are forever grateful of this donation to K9 Gunner, who is such an asset to our entire K9 team,” said Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard in a statement. “K9 Gunner is assigned to the Oakland County Narcotic Enforcement Team and has been responsible for the finds of several large narcotics quantities. This donation will keep him safe while he does his daily work going after drug traffickers.”

Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. provided over 2,000 protective vests in 50 states. If you'd like to donate to help pay for vests for Gunner's K9 friends across America (there are over 30,000 K9s nation-wide), click here for more info.
