WITH VIDEO: 'Ride for the Red' Motorcycle Cruise Benefits Red Cross

Event begins in Waterford, cuts through Oakland Township and Rochester Hills and ends at O'Connor's Public House in downtown Rochester.

More than 160 motorcycles took off from ABC Harley Davidson in Waterford on Sunday morning on a 60-mile scenic tour of Michigan's back roads.

"I thought the ride was great," said Riley, MI resident Scott Chetosky, who participated in the ride. "The roads were fantastic, the ride was just long enough. Everything was great."

"I had a pretty good time," agreed Jackson, MI resident Andy Grand, who also participated in the ride. "Everybody seemed to be down to earth, everybody seemed to be friendly, and everybody seemed to be safe, so I think we ... had a good ride."

The cruise isn't just for fun, though – proceeds from the Red Cross' will go to support the American Red Cross – Southeast Michigan Chapter. The chapter is the second busiest in the country next to New York City and provides health and safety training, disaster relief services and services to members of the military and their families.

"Everybody makes choices, what they do with their time and what they do with their extra money they may have in their pockets," Red Cross Disaster Action Team Leader Michele Diamond said, "and for all of these people to be so giving, it's nice to be in their circle today."

Diamond said the ride wouldn't be possible without help from sponsors, which include , , The Spy Shop, Meijer, and Red Bull.

"They're willing to give to hundreds of people today to help this event," Diamond said. "How sweet is that?"

The ride is scheduled to stop at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly and 32 Mile and Rochester roads in Leonard before cutting south on Rochester Road through Oakland Township and Rochester Hills.

The ride ends at O'Connor's Public House, where anyone can support the Red Cross by purchasing steak dinners for $12.95 this afternoon and evening.
