Rochester Hills Hosts 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

The ceremony will include remarks, a prayer and acts to honor those who lost their lives.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI —Rochester Hills will host a 9/11 remembrance ceremony on Wednesday. This event will take place at Rochester Hills Fire Station One at 9 a.m. Fire Station One is located at 1111 Horizon Ct., Rochester Hills. The featured speaker will be Mayor Bryan K. Barnett.

The attacks on that day caused the deaths of 2,996 people and the injuries of more than 6,000 others. 343 of those deaths reported were firefighters from the FDNY.

“September 11th is a day where Americans across the country will gather and reflect on the many lives lost and sacrifices made to defend our freedom,” states Mayor Bryan K. Barnett. “We encourage the community to join us as we honor those that died as well as our emergency response team and the military personnel who serve our country so selflessly.”

Remarks will also be made by Rochester Hills Fire DepartmentChief Sean Canto, RHFD Assistant Chief Cooke, City Councilman Mark Tisdel and Oakland County Commissioner Adam Kochenderfer. RHFD Chaplain Deacon John Wright will offer a prayer.

A traditional fire bell will be rung and a wreath will be laid, to honoring those that perished that day. A Flag raising ceremony performed by the Fire Department Honor Guard Bag pipe player will also be present for this event.

The public is invited to attend.
