Rochester Hills Residents Urged to 'Stagger' Sprinkler Usage

Residents are urged to delay starts of sprinkler systems until 15, 30 or 45 minutes past the hour.

Rochester Hills residents who use sprinklers to water their lawns are urged to "stagger" the start of their lawn-watering to help keep water rates in check.

According to the city's Outdoor Watering Ordinance, automatic irrigation systems, such as automatic sprinkler systems, are restricted to usage between midnight and 5 a.m.

The city also is urging residents to delay the start of their sprinkler systems by 15, 30 or 45 minutes past the top of the hour, staggering the sprinkler usage to decrease the sudden pressure drops from the Detroit Water & Sewerage Department's delivery systems to Rochester Hills.
