Watch Rochester's James Young Dunk for Regional Title

Led by the star senior's 27 points and 11 rebounds, the Falcons beat Lahser on Wednesday; they advance to the MHSAA quarterfinals.

The Rochester Falcons came together when it counted in Wednesday's MHSAA Region 8 final against Bloomfield Hills Lahser, outscoring the Knights 42-22 in the second half to clinch the title with a 65-41 score.

Now they're the regional champs — the first such title for the program since 1950.

Star senior forward James Young led all players with 27 points — including 13 in the third quarter to help the Falcons pull away — as well as 11 rebounds, according to statistics compiled by the team. Seniors Manny Mendoza and Arben Camaj chipped in 11 points and nine points, respectively. 

Rochester advances to play Detroit Southeastern at Calihan Hall in Detroit on Tuesday in the Class A quarterfinals.

State semifinals and finals will be at the Breslin Center in East Lansing from March 21-23.
