Woman Killed 3-Year-Old Son In Pontiac: Police
She was charged with murder and first-degree child abuse, and held on a $1 million bond, police said.

PONTIAC, MI — A Flint woman is accused of killing her 3-year-old son in Pontiac, according to police.
Latonya Shante Thomas, 27, was charged with murder and first-degree child abuse, and held on a $1 million bond, police said Friday. She is accused in the April 25 death of Zaveion Thomas, according to police.
“Some of the most horrific cases that we see in law enforcement deal with an abusive death of a child,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said in a news release. “It's hard to imagine someone injuring such a precious young life, and those who abuse a child must be held fully accountable.”

Deputies responding to a 911 call at a home in the 100 block of Perry Place found Thomas trying CPR on the boy, who was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, according to police. An autopsy revealed he had suffered injuries consistent with assault, police said.
Thomas was arrested Thursday in Flint by the sheriff’s Fugitive Apprehension Team and her next court date is set for June 25, according to police.
