Metro Detroit MJR Theater Getting A 270-Degree ScreenX​ This Summer

The ScreenX​ extends screens onto the side walls of the auditorium​, creating a 270-degree panoramic, ultra-widescreen view.

WATERFORD, MI — A 270-degree screen is coming to an Oakland County movie theater next month.

The MJR theater in Waterford is getting the ScreenX, which extends screens onto the side walls of the auditorium, creating a 270-degree panoramic, ultra-widescreen view of the action.

The screen will open in time for the new film "Twisters," which arrives in theaters on July 19. It is also scheduled to show "Anyone But You," which opens July 19.

The MJR Waterford will be the first theater in Michigan to carry the new ScreenX, which was developed by CJ 4DPLEX. The screen was introduced in 2012 and is used on nearly 400 screens in 43 countries.
