Officers named the fawn Baby Meijer because of where she was born, police said.
WHITE LAKE TOWNSHIP, MI — A White Lake Township police officer delivered a fawn Tuesday night after a pregnant doe was hit by a car, police said.
The crash involving the deer happened at 10:30 p.m. on Highland Rd near Meijer in White Lake Township, police said.
When Officer Wright arrived, he found that the doe that was hit by the car was pregnant and about to give birth, police said.
Police said Wright was able to remove the fawn, warm it up and get it breathing. Sadly, the mother died, police said.
He then brought the fawn to the station where Officer Snow gave it a nice bed to lie in and some milk, police said.
Officers named the fawn Baby Meijer because of where she was born, police said.
Police said a wildlife rehabilitation center was preparing to take Baby Meijer to her new home.
"Sometimes in this job you see and do things you have never done before," the police department said on Facebook. "We can now mark deer birthing and deer neonatal care off the list. Best of luck with your life Baby Meijer!!!!"
