Michigan Woman Gets New Jeep After Returning $15K She Found
Dianne Gordon found $15,000 in cash walking home from work one night and returned it to police, who then helped get her a new Jeep.
WHITE LAKE TOWNSHIP, MI — A community raised nearly $80,000 to help get a White Lake Township grandmother a new Jeep after she returned a bag full of thousands of dollars she found while walking home from work.
Dianne Gordon, who had been without a car after it broke down last year, was walking home from her job at a local grocery store when she stopped in at the BP gas station on Highland Road and found a bag of nearly $15,000 just laying on the ground.
Instead of keeping the money, which she acknowledged "would be life-changing," she immediately called police. The money was then returned to newlyweds from the west side of the state.

An officer's wife heard the story and decided to help get Gordon a new car by setting up a GoFundMe page, which raised more than $79,900 as of Wednesday morning.
The police department then partnered with Szott Automotive Group and used some of the money from the GoFundMe to get Gordan a new Jeep. Police said leftover funds would be used to help Gordon secure an extended warranty for her new car, and the rest would be given to her.

"Members of the department were blown away by a White Lake Township resident's act of kindness," White Lake Township Police said. "When we heard that Dianne hasn't had a vehicle in over a year and walks 5 days a week, 2.7 miles each way to work and back, we knew we had to help."
