Bobcat Bonnie's Closes Another Metro Detroit Location

The gastropub has closed three metro Detroit locations since last August.

WYANDOTTE, MI — Another metro Detroit Bobcat Bonnie's has closed down.

The gastropub's Wyandotte location permanently shut down Sunday, according to Bobcat Bonnie's owner Matt Buskard.

The gastropub's location in downtown Wyandotte on Sycamore Street opened eight years ago. During its run, the location introduced "new, cool ideas," such as Igloo dining, before rolling them out to other Bobcat Bonnie's locations, Buskard said.

"Even now, our Wyandotte dining room is hands down one of the coolest designed ones we have," Buskard wrote.

Buskard did not give a specific reason for the closure, but noted that the Wyandotte spot had to endure changes that included an abrupt closure, reopening a year later, the COVID-19 pandemic and another revamp and remodel.

"We have had such a wild and fun run with you all, but now it is time for us to continue our goal of making ourselves a bit smaller, focusing harder on what made Bobcat the place you loved, and getting back on track with service, food, and community," Buskard wrote.

Buskard closed with that he hopes to "find a space and re-enter Downriver" and thanked Wyandotte for being "amazing."

The restaurant is best known for its burgers, sandwiches, salads and a variety of sides.

The Wyandotte location's closing comes five months after a Bobcat Bonnie’s gastropub in Clinton Township permanently closed down. A Ypsilanti spot closed followed a few months later.

There are now only four Bobcat Bonnie’s stores open: Ferndale, Kalamazoo, Lansing and the original location in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood. A Grand Rapids spot is temporarily closed but is expected to move to another location.
