Fridley on YouTube: Mippey5 Thanks Fridley for Support
Luke Thompson posted a video about his dad's triple bypass surgery, and the residents who gave him encouragement when he was having a hard time.
Fridley's own Luke "Mippey5" Thompson usually posts video parodies. His Feb. 23 post, however, included an emotional message to his viewers.

His father had triple bypass surgery Feb. 21. On the night before the surgery, Luke was home alone. He tweeted a simple sentence: "Keep my dad in your thoughts and prayers."

People from around Fridley and the country responded immediately.
"I just reached 30,000 subscribers, which is basically the city I live in," he said. "And it amazes me that I have a city on my side that actually cares about my real life."

His YouTube purpose, he said, is he wants to make people feel the way they made him feel that night.
His dad is now recovering. "I'm sure you'll be seeing him in a video sooner than anyone suspects," he said.
