Cooper Alumnus Takes Rogers Head Coaching Job

Justin Strunk reportedly leaves the Maple Grove Senior High boys hockey season after six seasons.

After six seasons as the Maple Grove Senior High assistant hockey coach,Β Justin StrunkΒ will be leading theΒ Rogers High SchoolΒ team as the boys head hockey coach, according to reports.

Strunk is currently a special education teacher at Park Center Senior High and a Robbinsdale Cooper High School graduate, according to theΒ Elk River Star News.Β 

Strunk coached the last six years underΒ Maple Grove Senior HighΒ head hockey coach Gary Stefano, according toΒ Crow River News Sports.Β Stefano’s contract was not renewedΒ for the 2013-14 season andΒ Tom StarkeyΒ was named the new head boys hockey coach for Maple Grove Senior High.

β€œWhen your school and community can be behind you it develops that excitement and a sense of community pride. That’s one of the big things that brought me to Rogers. I want to help with the youth association and get community members and local businesses involved,” Strunk toldΒ Crow River News Sports.Β
