One Candidate Withdraws And Another Appears
Joanie Clausen replaces Kristen Turbenson as a City Council candidate.
When candidate filings ended Aug. 16, was listed as a City Council candidate. If you check the Secretary of State's Website today, however, Turbenson isn't listed and Joanie Clausen is.
Turbenson withdrew her name from consideration; Aug. 18 was the last day she could do so. Joanie Clausen filed on Aug. 16, which was the last day candidates could file for the Nov. 8 election.
Rachel Smith, Hennepin County elections manager, said county officials were faced with a large volume of filings on the last day and so Clausen's name wasn't immediately posted on the Secretary of State's Website.

On Friday, Turbenson declined to comment on her withdrawal from the race.
