Letter: Excelsior City Council Member Backs Mark Gaylord for Mayor

Letters to the editor can be submitted via e-mail to Jay.Corn@patch.com.

To the editor,

An effective city council does more than keep our taxes down—it considers the long-range impacts of decisions made today on the future of our community. The personal qualities that best serve our city in assessing these impacts and making sound decisions for the future are those that encourage public debate, investigate options thoroughly and remain true to a community vision.

I will be voting for Mark Gaylord for Excelsior Mayor. Mark has served Excelsior on the Planning Commission for six years and has demonstrated that he is able to tackle tough decisions. He is adept at asking tough questions and is not afraid to suggest alternatives or negotiate for change.

Mark’s public comments and votes as a Planning Commissioner have demonstrated a record of careful, deliberate and appropriate decision-making for Excelsior.

Mark is the type of leader that Excelsior needs to strike the right balance between encouraging economic growth and protecting our historic character. I hope you will join with me to cast your vote for him as mayor of Excelsior.
