Long Lake Man Faces Fourth DWI Charge

Driver accused of being behind the wheel with a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit.

A 40-year-old Long Lake man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop over the weekend. It is his fourth DWI charge in 20 years.

Lance Walczak was pulled over by Wayzata police just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday after officers watch his vehicle exit an alley behind several closed businesses. Walczak's tail lights were reportedly not functioning at the time of the stop.

Court documents indicate the arresting officer immediately detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from Walczak, and he failed a battery of field sobriety tests. Walczak voluntarily submitted to an intoxilyzer test, which revealed a blood alcohol content of .24—three times the legal limit to drive.
