Man Charged With Stealing Truck From Met Council Fleet

Mound police arrest man who says he was high on meth when he stole the vehicle.

A Mound man has been charged with burglary and vehicle theft after police say he stole a truck belonging to the Metropolitan Council earlier this week. Officers quickly found the truck with the help of an onboard GPS system.

Reports of a burglary at the Met Council’s Environmental Services Building on Westedge Boulevard in Mound first came in about 5:30 a.m. Monday. Police found a perimeter fence down upon arriving at the scene and took a stolen vehicle report.

Employees told police a truck belonging to the Met Council’s motor pool and clearly marked with Met Council logos was missing. Police tracked the truck’s movement using its GPS system and soon found it parked at a nearby residence.
