Swimming Accident Leaves Man in Critical Condition
Victim 'critical but stable' on his way to HCMC.

A man in his 70s is in critical condition after a Sunday afternoon swimming accident near Excelsior. The victim’s name has not been released.
Emergency responders were dispatched to a possible drowning call on Gideon’s Point Drive in Tonka Bay just after 5 p.m. The first units reached the scene within minutes, according to Excelsior Fire Chief Scott Gerber.
“We did find an individual in the water, and he was pulled out of the pool upon public safety’s arrival,” Gerber said. “They performed resuscitative measures and are transporting him to HCMC for further care.”

Gerber said the victim lived in the home and that medics were providing “advanced life support care” as they left the scene just after 5:30 p.m. It’s unclear how the man became distressed in the water.
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, the Excelsior Fire District, South Lake Minnetonka Police and Hennepin County Ambulance Service all responded to Sunday’s call.
