Council receives COVID-19 updates
The city council received updates from staff regarding COVID-19 and the OSHA-issued Emergency Temporary Standard for employers with 100 or more employees. Discussion of this topic will continue on Friday, Jan. 14 at 3:30 p.m., at which time council will meet to consider adopting a citywide mask mandate.

Council conducts ceremonial oath of office for newly elected councilmembers
The council conducted a ceremonial oath of office for the three members elected in 2021. Mayor Brad Wiersum and Councilmembers Deb Calvert and Kimberly Wilburn will serve four-year terms in their respective seats on the council. This ceremonial oath comes one week after the three councilmembers were officially sworn in on Jan. 3.
Council accepts plans and specifications for the Ridgedale Drive Trail Project
The council accepted the plans and specifications for the Ridgedale Drive Trail Project, and authorized the advertisement for bids. This project involves the construction of a new trail along the south side of Ridgedale Drive from White Birch Road to east of Essex Road. This trail will allow connectivity to commercial and residential areas, including Ridgedale Mall. The estimated project cost is $1.7 million, and construction would likely begin in the spring or summer of 2022 and be completed in the fall.
Council accepts plans and specifications for the Tonka Woodcroft Improvements Project
The council accepted the plans and specifications for the Tonka Woodcroft Improvements Project, and authorized the advertisement for bids. This project involves both street and utility improvements in the area, as well as the Minnetonka Boulevard Trail project from Woodlawn Avenue to Tonkawood Road. The estimated project cost is $29.73 million. Construction would begin in April or May 2022, and would be completed in phases through 2023.
Council designates new Acting Mayor and Alternate Acting Mayor
The council designated Ward 1 Councilmember Brian Kirk as the Acting Mayor and Ward 4 Councilmember Kissy Coakley as the Alternate Acting Mayor for 2022.
Council approves appointments and reappointments to boards and commissions
The council approved the staff-recommended reappointments of various city boards and commissions members. The council also approved the appointment of Isabelle Stroh to the Park Board as the new student member.
