Council recognizes Sergeant Mike Nelson
The city council recognized Sgt. Mike Nelson, who will be retiring on Jan. 31, 2021 after more than 26 years of service to the city. Nelson began his career with the city as a police officer in February of 1996, and was promoted to sergeant in 2010. The City of Minnetonka thanks Sgt. Nelson for his years of dedication to our community.

Council receives report on the Cullen Smith Property Restoration Project
The city council received a report from staff regarding the Cullen Smith Property Restoration Project. Approximately 13 acres of oak savanna and woodland habitat will be restored over the next two years in collaboration with the Friends of Cullen Nature Preserve. Work is expected to begin in February 2022
Council approves drainage and utility easements for Chabad Center for Jewish Life
The city council approved the vacation of drainage and utility easements at 2327, 2333, 2339 Hopkins Crossroad and 11170 Mill Run. Vacation of easements necessary to construct the project is a condition of project approval.
Council receives report on the results of the citywide business survey
The city council received a report from Cobalt Community Research on the results of the citywide business climate survey conducted between September and November 2021. The goal of the survey was to gain a better understand the state of the local economic and identify changes that may be necessary to connect with businesses.
Council adopts noise regulation ordinance
The city council adopted an ordinance that updates city code sections 850.010 and 850.020 regarding prohibited noises. This ordinance was drafted in response to the council’s request to staff to regulate electronic sound machines which deter wildlife.
The city council reviewed proposals from the three executive search firms for the recruitment process for a new city manager. A final contract will be presented for approval of the council at the Feb. 7 meeting.
