Couple Charged After Reportedly Shopping With Someone Else's Credit Card

Reginald Coleman and Chaquita Jordan were detained after trying to shop at Best Buy in Minnetonka.

A man and woman from Minneapolis are accused of using someone else’s credit cards at local stores.

Reginald Coleman, 25, and Chaquita Jordan, 24, were detained at on Dec. 28 after store employees suspected them of trying to purchase $300 worth of gift cards with another person’s Visa card.

Best Buy employees told Minnetonka Police that Coleman tried to use a card belonging to a woman, who he said was his girlfriend. Jordan returned with Coleman to the store a short time later. She was unable to provide a photo ID, and the two left the store without the Visa.

Employees caught the license plates on the the minivan they left in, and police located it.

In the van, officers found a wallet that also belonged to the owner of the credit card. In addition, officers found four $100 American Express gift cards with a receipt from a Target store in St. Louis Park indicating the gift cards were purchased with another credit card belonging to the same person.

The owner of the credit cards and wallet had filed a police report with the St. Louis Park Police Department after her purse, containing her wallet, had been stolen earlier that day from L.A. Fitness in St. Louis Park.

Coleman and Jordan were each charged in Hennepin County Court with a pair of felony financial transaction card fraud charges. Coleman also faces a count of violation of an order for protection, also a felony.
