Glen Lake Student Finishes Second in Kids Triathlon

Owen Sterner may only be 8 years old, but he’s already carving out a place for himself as a triathlete.

The Glen Lake Elementary student finished second among the 29 racers in his age group Saturday at the 2013 Kiwanis Kids Triathlon in Baxter.

Owen’s 54-second finish in the 25-yard swim was fastest among the competitors. He finished the two-mile bike leg in 8:55, good enough for 10th. And he was second fastest in the mile run, with a time of 7:05. His overall time was 18:24.
