Graduation: 631 Students Earn Diplomas From Hopkins High School

On Thursday, June 6 at 7:30 p.m., 631 seniors will graduate from Hopkins High School in a ceremony held in Lindberg Center that features music by the High School Wind Ensemble, Concert Choir and Symphony Orchestra. 

Students Farhiya Ali and William Chizek will lead the ceremony, and students Jacob Bernstei and Madeline Hinck will give speeches. The student presenter is Josette Karr.  

Of the Hopkins 2013 graduating class, 170 students will graduate with honors. Thirty-six students will graduate with honors with distinction, three are National Merit Finalists, and 11 are National Merit Commended students.

Presentation of Flags 
During "America the Beautiful" the presentation of flags will include flags representing the graduates' countries of birth. This year, 26 countries are represented including Bosnia, Cameroon, Chile, Ecuador, England, Ethiopia, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Kenya, Laos, Liberia, Mexico, Norway, Serbia, Somalia, South Korea, Thailand, Tibet and the United States.

Awarding of Diplomas

Hopkins High School Principal Patty Johnson and the school's faculty will present the class of 2013. Diplomas will be awarded by Superintendent John Schultz, Ph.D., and the Hopkins Board of Education, including Chair Susan Wootten, Vice Chair Irma McIntosh Coleman, Treasurer Kris Newcomer, and Steve Adams, Betsy Anderson and Warren Goodroad.
