Letter: 'I'm Voting For Yvonne Selcer'
"If Representative Stensrud wants to be our representative, he should act like one and stand up and protect the programs that benefit the senior citizens in our state."

To the editor:
In Minnesota, we need legislators who will do a better job representing senior citizens at the State Capital. Over the past two years, Representative Kirk Stensrud and his party leaders voted time and time again for cuts to our benefits and programs that directly hurt many of us senior citizens. One of the most important votes was against the Southwest Corridor Light Rail which would benefit seniors, businesses, and jobs in our area.
If Representative Stensrud wants to be our representative, he should act like one and stand up and protect the programs that benefit the senior citizens in our State. Instead, he has demonstrated his actions by being part of the gridlock that we have consistently witnessed over the last few years. His actions directly resulted in slowing down any progress at the capital and destroyed any hope for improved communications and cooperation.

That is why I am supporting Yvonne Selcer for State Representative. She has clearly demonstrated her leadership abilities to work with all those interested in getting the job done. Because of her willingness to work across par lines, involve community members, and work with the school administrators, the Hopkins School Districts had one of the fastest financial recoveries ever witnessed by any school district in our state.
And, let's not overlook the fact that her co-chair is our very own retired Republican Minnetonka Mayor, Karen Anderson!
