To the Editor,

I am writing to wholeheartedly recommend Yvonne Selcer for Minnesota House of Representatives.

I first met Yvonne as a neighboring school board member while I served on the Eden Prairie School Board. Over that time, I came to admire Yvonne for her strength of character.

I remember numerous visits with Yvonne, coffee in our hands, discussing solutions, accountability, and how to keep our work highly productive and collaborative. An example of this work was Yvonne’s role in the creation of a dynamic fiscal model for the Hopkins School District. As Treasurer and Chair, she made difficult decisions that protected the long-term stability of Hopkins schools.

Yvonne and I also worked side-by-side as leaders of our local legislative advocacy groups – Citizens for Eden Prairie Schools and the Hopkins Legislative Action Coalition. Our regional effort resulted in relieving some pressure from the referendum cap that had historically kept our two local school districts from being able to compete with the funding levels of neighboring districts.

I know all too well the politics of school district leadership. It shouldn’t be political, but yet it is, and a person who can lead with a clear and honest spirit is hard to find. Yvonne has skills that have won her the respect of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents. She is the ideal person to be working for all of Minnesota at the Legislature.  On November 6th, please cast your vote for Yvonne Selcer.
