Letter: Wolf Hunt Needed to Maintain Healthy Balance
"Should these farmers lose stock because some idealists in the city who never worked on a farm a day in their lives romanticize about wolves?"

To the Editor,
Your article on the upcoming wolf hunting season slants towards persons opposing the hunt.
It would be wonderful if you would write an article from the other perspective. Wolves have become a huge problem in many states, including MN and WI.

One comment on your article actually says that wolves aren't "prey" animals when they are on top of the food chain in the wild. Wouldn't that be an animal of prey?
The wolves are wiping out deer populations locally and, out west, they are killing everything including elk, moose and livestock. I'm sure MN and WI farmers have issues with the wolves. Should these farmers lose stock because some idealists in the city who never worked on a farm a day in their lives romanticize about wolves?

I grew up in rural WI and it is a big problem. The wolves have a place but their population must be maintained along with the other species of animals in order for there to be a healthy balance.
For those who think that hunting and trapping are inhumane, they should really watch how packs of wolves will kill deer and other animals. There is nothing kind about it. These idealists need to become better informed of the whole issue.
Respectfully,
