Car Cleaned of More Than Owner Had Bargained For

Police say an employee of Morrie's Subaru dealership in Minnetonka stole cash while with washing a car.

Investigators believe a Minnetonka man stole money from a car he was washing. Christian William Even, 24, faces one count of felony theft.

While he worked for  dealership in Minnetonka, Even is believed to have stolen $1,400 from a car that was brought into the dealership to be cleaned. The vehicle’s owner told police his mother left the money in a purse inside the car. The incident took place in October 2011.

After the 10 minutes it took for the car to be washed, the car’s owner noticed the purse had been moved and the cash inside missing. No one other than Even had access to the vehicle during that time, according to police.

Another employee told police he saw Even sprint through the back lot and through a hole in the fence before running back to the car. Police say Even recovered the money when confronted.

If convicted, Even faces up to 5 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
