Outdoor Minnetonka Ice Rinks Close for Season

Due to weather, the rinks were closed for the season on Thursday.

With the long-range weather forecast calling for temperatures well above average through mid-February, the city of Minnetonka has suspended maintenance of outdoor ice rinks for the season effective Thursday, Feb. 2.

Recent unseasonably warm weather has resulted in a significant loss of ice, while evening temperatures near or above freezing have not allowed city crews to re-flood the rinks. As a result, ice conditions are poor and unfit for skating. Rinks were originally scheduled to remain open through Feb. 20.
