Sen. Franken Congratulates Assistant Principal Erickson

Minnetonka High School Assistant Principal Jeffrey Erickson met with U.S. Sen. Al Franken in Washington, D.C.

Last Thursday, U.S. Sen. Al Franken met with Minnetonka High School Assistant Principal Jeffrey Erickson to congratulate him on being named the Minnesota  2012 Assistant Principal of the Year.

"Great administrators foster a supportive learning environment and give teachers the tools they need to educate our kids so they can compete for the jobs of the future," said Sen. Franken. "Jeffrey Erickson is one of the best assistant principals in the country, and we're lucky to have him in Minnesota. I commend him on winning this award."
 
Assistant Principal Erickson was honored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), an organization dedicated to excellence in middle and high school leadership. Sen. Franken met with Erickson at his office in Washington, D.C., where the two discussed the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, also known as , and talked about the importance of federal education investment.

Candidates for Minnesota Assistant Principal of the Year are evaluated based on four selection criteria: personal excellence; collaborative leadership; curriculum, instruction, and assessment; and personalization.
