Two Minnetonka Students Up For 'Kid of the Year'
Madeline Bloom and Jeremy Nelson, both of whom attend Minnetonka High School, have been named as two of the five finalists in the No Name Original Kid of the Year contest.

, 18, of Eden Prairie, and Jeremy Nelson, 18, of Excelsior, both of whom attend , have been named as two of the five finalists in the No Name Original Kid of the Year contest.
Finalists were selected from a pool of essays submitted to No Name Premium Meat & Seafood by parents and teachers describing each nominee’s school performance, community service and involvement in extracurricular activities.
In his nomination letter, Nelson was described as a leader among his peers, captaining the school’s Quiz Bowl and Knowledge Bowl teams, and serving in leadership positions at La Conexión, the Mexican Consulate, and the Minnesota Youth Council. He is a national merit finalist and also a member of the school debate, Nordic ski, track and cross country teams.
In her nomination letter, Bloom was described as a passionate and highly involved teenager who is committed to giving back to her community. She has served in the Friends United program for four years, volunteering with students with special needs. She studies piano and voice, and mentors others as the section leader of her school choir. She is a Student Government representative and a consistent A-Honor Roll student.
Each finalist won four suite tickets to the April 29 Minnesota Twins home game versus the Kansas City Royals. At that time, one finalist will be selected at random as the grand prize winner and will be named No Name Original Kid of the Year. The grand prize winner will receive a $3,000 scholarship prize, a $1,000 donation to his or her school and a year’s supply of No Name products. The four other finalists will each receive a $1,000 scholarship prize and a $1,000 donation to their school.
Other finalists in the contest are Kevin Caron, 17, of St. Michael; Haley Coller, 18, of Burnsville; and Lacy Myrman, 17, of Brooklyn Park.
