VIDEO: Minnetonka Runner Will Leer Misses Olympics
Leer, a Minnetonka High School alumnus, placed 12th Sunday in the Olympic Trial Finals of the men's 1500 meter run.
Will Leer placed 12th in the men's 1500 run of the Olympic Trial Finals on Sunday, missing his chance to go to London.
Earlier in the men's 1,500 semifinals, Minnetonka native Leer won his qualifying heat in 3:51.27 to advance to the finals. Leer had the 13th fastest time and Matthew Centrowitz was the top qualifier in 3:41.90.
Leer ran track and played soccer at . He began running track his sophomore year as a means to stay in shape for soccer but quickly found success as a runner.
