Northfield Students Honored for Academic Achievement at St. Olaf College

The following local residents were among nearly 900 students who were recognized for academic achievement at the college's annual Honors Day convocation on May 4. Honors Day recognizes students who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.60 or higher on a 4.0 scale. The convocation also recognizes students who have been awarded scholarships and fellowships, including Fulbright scholars, Goldwater scholars, and senior members of leadership and academic honor societies.

Michael Abdella from Northfield, is an American Studies major and a graduate of Northfield High School. Michael is the son of Blake and Beth Abdella.

Ryan Abdella from Northfield, is a Chemistry major and a graduate of Northfield High School. Ryan is the son of Blake and Beth Abdella.

Beret Amundson from Northfield, is an undecided major and a graduate of Northfield High School. Beret is the daughter of Steven and Jane Amundson.

Jonathan Bauman from Northfield, is a Studio Art and Biology major and a graduate of Northfield High School. Jonathan is the son of Steven and Ruth Bauman.

William Carlson from Northfield, is a History major and a graduate of Putney School The. William is the son of Leslie Carlson and William Carlson.

Claire Carlson from Burlington, is an English major and a graduate of Northfield High School. Claire is the daughter of Gary and Mary Carlson.

Joseph Cherney from Northfield, is an undecided major and a graduate of Northfield High School. Joseph is the son of Ken Cherney and Sarah Bardenwerper.

Mark Emmons from Northfield, is an Environmental Studies major and a graduate of Northfield High School. Mark is the son of Henry Emmons and Jane Blockhus.

Eric Emmons from Northfield, is a Biology major and a graduate of Northfield High School. Eric is the son of Henry Emmons and Jane Blockhus.

Nora Flynn from Northfield, is an Environmental Studies major and a graduate of Northfield High School. Nora is the daughter of Michael Flynn and Angelique Dietz.

Allison Rodriguez from Northfield, is an English major and a graduate of Mission Viejo High School. Allison is the daughter of Ubaldo and Julie Rodriguez.

Kiersten Ruda from Northfield, is a Physics major and a graduate of Hill-Murray School. Kiersten is the daughter of Daniel and Karen Ruda.

Jacquelyn Scheele from Northfield, is Social Work major and a graduate of Appleton North High School. Jacquelyn is the daughter of Timothy and Bonnie Reich.

Siri Thompson from Edina, is a Sociology/Anthropology major and a graduate of Northfield High School. Siri is the daughter of James and Maren Thompson.

Huong Vu from Northfield, is a Biology and Chemistry major and a graduate of International High School. Huong is the daughter of Chuong Vu and Thao Nguyen.

Sonja Wermager from Northfield, is an undecided major and a graduate of Northfield High School. Sonja is the daughter of Mark Gleason & Kristi Wermager.

Vivian Williams from Northfield, is an Ancient Studies major and a graduate of Newark High School. Vivian is the daughter of Xiaoxia Williams.

Noelle Wolf from Northfield, is a Studio Art, Biology, and Psychology major and a graduate of Northfield High School. Noelle is the daughter of Paul and Susan Wolf.

The ceremony began with a colorful academic procession led by St. Olaf President David R. Anderson '74, and was followed by a reception for students, parents, friends of the college, faculty and staff.
