1. Today will be mostly sunny with a high near 81 degrees and a low near 66 degrees. There is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening, according to the National Weather Service.

2. On this day in 1868 the 14th Amendment was officially adopted in the U.S. Constitution. The 14th Amendment guaranteed citizenship and all of its priveleges to African Americans.

3. The Oakdale Discovery Center will be hosting , including finding a cache, hiding a cache, third party tools and more. Geocaching is the recreational activity of finding a hidden object using GPS coordinates. Sessions will start at 9:30 a.m. and go until 4:30 p.m.

4. Sally Struthers — an American actress known for her roles on "All in the Family" and "Gilmore Girls" — turns 64 years old.

5. A United States military plane crashed into the Empire State Building in 1945, killing 14 people. The crash was caused by heavy fog.
