Body Found in St. Croix River Identified

The decomposed body was found Tuesday in the St. Croix River.

The body of a man found in the St. Croix River has been identified as Donald D. Marklowitz Jr., 54, according to a Washington County Sheriff's Office news release issued Thursday.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office was called to the 900 block of Quentin Avenue South in Lakeland at about 11:38 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, on a report of a possible deceased body on the shore. When authorities arrived on the scene, they found the body.

The body was turned over to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office, which identified the man as Marklowitz, who was last seen in Hudson, Wis., on April 1, according to the release.

The cause of death is still under investigation. Β 

At this time, neither the Washington County Sheriff's Office nor Wisconsin authorities are looking for anyone in relation to this case and there is no threat to the public, reads part of the release.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office received "a significant amount of assistance" from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Hudson Police Department.
