Filing for City, School District Offices Begins Today

Filing for city or school district offices runs from July 31 to Aug. 14.

It's time to decide if you're running for a seat on the city council or school board.

Filing for city and school district offices begins today and closes on Aug. 14.

Two seats on the Oakdale City Council are up for election this year. Councilmen Paul Reinke's and Stan Karwoski's seats expire this year.Β

Those interested in filing for a city council seat can do so Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.Β at , 1584 Hadley Avenue. A candidate must file in person and pay a $5 filing fee.

Four school board seats are also up for election this year. Board members in School District 622 (North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale) will serve four-year terms. Board members whose seats expire this year are Theresa Auge, Pam Cunningham, Nancy Livingston and Steve Hunt.

Those interested in filing for the open seats on the school board can file at the District Education CenterΒ in North St. Paul during regular business hours (Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). The office will be open until 5 p.m. on the last day of filing.Β 

Candidates must be at least 21 years old, maintained residency in Oakdale or the school district for at least 30 days prior to Nov. 6 and have not filed for any other office in the current election.Β
