Man Shot By Forest Lake Police Dies Days Later

FOREST LAKE, MN β€” The man police shot on Sunday in Forest Lake died days later, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension announced. Bradley G. Erickson, 47, of Forest Lake, died Wednesday at the Hennepin County Medical Center.

The BCA, which launched an independent investigation into the fatal police shooting, has identified the officers who fired their weapons during the incident.

  • Forest Lake Police Officer Jonathan Glader has been in law enforcement for 16 years
  • Forest Lake Police Officer Matthew Smith has been in law enforcement for 17 years
  • Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy Greg Reiter has been in law enforcement for 26 years

When the investigation is complete, the BCA will turn over its investigation findings to the Washington County Attorney’s Office for review.

Just after 1:30 p.m. Sunday, police received a 911 call reporting that a man with an active order for protection had arrived at the victim's home, according to authorities. The caller said the man was armed with a gun and was threatening them.

On the road, police officers tried to pull over the suspect, but he fled, according to authorities.

During the chase, Forest Lake police used a pursuit intervention tactic (PIT) maneuver in the 7000 block of North Shore Trail.

"The male presented a threat to officers and shots were fired," police said in a news release. The man was taken to a hospital by helicopter.
