Mobile Vet Visits Oakdale to Offer Services to Low-Income Individuals

Kindest Cut offers spay and neuter services for dogs, cats and rabbits of low-income individuals. Kindest Cut parks at Sgt. Peppers in Oakdale once a month in addition to several Twin Cities locations.

A mobile veterinary service makes its way to Sgt. Peppers in Oakdale once a month to serve pets of low-income individuals and families.

Kindest Cut provies low cost spay and neuter surgeries for dogs, cats and rabbits in its traveling surgical unit. Licenced veterinarians perform the surgeries while volunteers help check in the pets and sterilize the surgical instruments.

Kindest Cut is owned and operated by Dr. Meghann Kruck, a veterinarian from Woodbury. Kruck partners with the Animal Humane Society to offer the service to more than 25 locations around the Twin Cities and beyond.Β

The mobile vet began offering services in May 2011. Since its inception Kindest Cut has performed more than 8,850 surgeries.Β 

"Our first goal is to bring down euthanasia in healthy pets," Kruck said. "We also want to foster relationships with pets and their vets."

Kruck previously worked as a veterinarian in a private practice, but she started her business after she heard the Humane Society was seeking a partner to offer low-cost spay and neuter services.Β 

It costs between $40 and $100 to spay and neuter your pet through Kindest Cut, as opposed to $100 to $300 at a standard veterinary practice.

Pet owners interested in the service must qualify as low-income individuals or families. Β
