Woodbury Leadership Academy (WLA) is a tuition-free, K-12 public charter school where high expectations and success matter to all! Our learning environment and school community promotes academic achievement for students in grades K-12, as well as personal integrity, equity and a dedication to value and serve others. Our school is committed to our students’ long term success. We use inquiry based learning by teaching the Core Knowledge Curriculum — building strong skills in math, reading, writing, history, science and technology. We also have a strong character education program to ensure students develop exceptional leadership skills. The character education program includes service learning projects and a focus of five core virtues - respect, responsibility, perseverance, gratitude and humanity. WLA uses the rigorous and classical Core Knowledge Curriculum to build strong foundational knowledge across subjects, promoting academic excellence and equity. By ensuring all students share common knowledge, we can narrow achievement gaps and build critical thinking and long-term success. <a href="https://oakdale.patch.com/groups/politics-and-elections/p/new-parking-lot-planned-for-oakdale-library" rel="nofollow">Reconstruction of the Oakdale Library's parking lot</a> begins Monday, Aug. 19.The Oakdale Library will be closed one day, Friday, Aug. 23, during the reconstruction. The book drop will also be unavailable.The library is expected remain open during the rest of the construction, though there will be limited access to the parking lot, according to a release from Washington County. Library users are encouraged to car pool, bike or walk to the facility.The project will replace deteriorated pavement and sidewalks, and also address stormwater drainage issues on the site.Some of the pedestrian features on the site that don't comply with the <a href="http://www.ada.gov" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Americans with Disabilities Act</a> will be fixed, as well.Construction is expected to be complete sometime in September.
