Rowing Regatta, Season’s Last Slip N Slide, Night to Unite: Today in Oakdale

Here are five items to take note of today in Oakdale.

Rowing Regatta

A big-time rowing event is coming to the Lake Elmo Park Reserve this weekend.

You’ll be able to check out more than 500 rowers from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The Minneapolis Rowing Club is hosting the event, at which rowers use boats called β€œshells,” made of lightweight carbon fiber and ranging from 27-60 feet long.

The Lake Elmo Park Reserve’s boat launch will be closed to public use from Friday, Aug. 2, through Sunday, Aug. 4, for event, according to Washington County.

No admission will be charged to watch the event.

Slip n Slide

It was a bit cold last time, but the city’s last water slide event at Tower Park is set for 1-3:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9.

Night to Unite

Get out and meet your neighbors and members of Oakdale’s public safety departments Tuesday Aug. 6.

β€œThis is a great opportunity to meet and greet neighbors, strengthen community, and enjoy the benefits of your city,” Rep. JoAnn Ward, who represents parts of Oakdale, said in her latest newsletter.

Washington County Fair

The Washington County Fair continues Saturday and Sunday.

Admission is $7 for people 16 years and older; $4 for kids ages 6-15; and free for kids 5 years old and younger.

There is free, on-site parking, and more than 50 vendors offering up fair foods and other items. Gates open at 7 a.m. daily, with exhibit buildings open from 10 a.m.-10 p.m.
